Marriages Made in Heaven
Over the last decade, Bali has proved itself to be one of the world’s most alluring wedding destinations, with an increasing number of couples eagerly embracing the opportunity of making this romantic, sun-soaked tropical island the venue for the most important day of their lives. Orchestrating the arrangements for your own wedding in your own country can be extremely stressful, but having faith in our ability to take care of everything will remove all of that pressure and tension. In addition to this, a wedding within the enchanted Balinese setting of Legian Beach Hotel will prove to be far more unique and considerably more exotic, at a cost that is considerably less than that of a similar function in a Western country. Whether you are planning a secret sunset ceremony or a more lavish celebration with family and friends, we recognise the importance of creating an occasion that you will treasure for the rest of your lives. We have the expertise, dedication and enthusiasm to design around your needs in order to create a truly unforgettable occasion.
With the accent on small and intimate, our professional wedding coordinators can arrange everything from make-up and hairdressing to a tropical flower corsage and bridal bouquet, a wedding cake, decorations, Balinese Rindik musicians, bridesmaids, photography and video shooting. We also host vow renewals, blessings, and commitment ceremonies, together with receptions and celebrations. The package doesn’t have to include accommodation for the wedding guests, although wedding guests will, of course, be offered a special discount on our room rates.
Please note that:
Indonesian law dictates that marriages have to be conducted by a priest or minister of one of the five religions recognised by the Indonesian government – Islam, Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic or Protestant. A religious rite must take place, but a Hindu ceremony cannot be conducted unless you have the appropriate documentation to prove that you really are Hindu. However, if a traditional Balinese wedding is what appeals to you, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t dress in the traditional costume and be escorted by a duo of Balinese bridesmaids against a backdrop of traditional decorations, followed by a Balinese wedding feast.
The marriage will be a full legal ceremony, which must also be performed under civil rites, conducted by the district Civil Registrar from the Civil Registry Office.
During the weeks or months leading up to the big day, our wedding coordinator will answer questions and offer guidance and recommendations. Advice about options, possibilities and practicalities is given every step of the way, generally by e-mail.
At Legian Beach Hotel, we specialise in romantic Balinese style wedding ceremonies. The ambience of the island will also be reflected in the innovative use of natural décor, including gracefully arching bamboo, palm leaves, flowers and fruit. However, we can also provide an international set-up for those who prefer more of a cosmopolitan flavour. A typical Balinese-style wedding can include the provision of two beautiful Balinese bridesmaids in traditional dress, together with Balinese wedding costume rental for the bride and groom, who will look resplendent in red and gold, with the bride wearing an ornate golden headdress garnished with jasmine flowers and believed to represent the rays of the sun. The ceremony will take place out of doors, to the accompaniment of ethnic Rindik (bamboo) music, in a romantic wedding gazebo heralded by a gateway bedecked with freshly woven green palm fronds, and flanked by stunning tropical flower arrangements of, perhaps, elaborate two-toned heliconias and sweet smelling setiap malam, completed with a carpet of rose petals.
The most favoured time for a wedding ceremony is around four or five o’clock in the afternoon. This is when the heat of the day has subsided but there is still enough light left for taking stunning photographs just a few metres away on the magnificent Legian Beach, culminating in a brilliant sunset over the sea. The event might then continue by candlelight with a delicious sit down buffet or 3-course dinner served in our garden with an abundance of champagne. Follow this with a candlelit alfresco fiesta and the perfect two-centre honeymoon, divided between Legian Beach Hotel and our sister property, Candi Cottage, and it is highly likely that you will have successfully made your dream become a reality.
