On December 30, 2007 I Putu Darmika, Legian Beach Hotel Chief Security received an award from the Bali Police for his assistance in tackling and apprehending Peruvian thieves by the name Carlos Conca Chavez, 41 and his wife Maria Elena Tello Espinoza, 40 on February 5, 2007.
The couple pretended to be guests of the hotel and succeeded to hitch belongings of unsuspected hotel guests. After the apprehension, the couple received 10 months jail term. |
On further development, the authority discovered that the couple is linked to a crime ring specializing in stealing valuables of unsuspected holidaymakers in Bali.
Bali police has been monitoring the couple's activities since they have been suspected to execute similar crime on three different venues in Kuta and Legian. It was on the fourth action the couple managed to be captured, thanks to the diligence and competence of Legian Beach Hotel security staff.
